The UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards in association with Shutterstock have been joined by industry giant Fujifilm to recognise young talent.
This year, the challenge set by Fujifilm and The UK Picture Editors Guild awards in association with Shutterstock, is to show with five images their understanding of the course they are on.
Chair of the UK Picture Editor Guild, Alan Sparrow said ”it has been an ambition of the Guild for some time to involve and encourage the student photographers in the country and to introduce them to a competition that will sharpen their talents and we believe this challenge does just that”.
Andreas Georghiades, Marketing Manager, Electronic Imaging said “Fujifilm UK are excited to introduce the new student category to the Industries leading press photography awards. We are looking forward to seeing the work the students are capable of producing and feel that the prizes being offered will be encourage submissions and help give the winners the tools they need to progress in education and careers in photography”
The competition is open to students on photographic courses at Universities and Colleges throughout the UK.
The winner will receive a top of the range Fuji X-T2 and £200 cash prize, and the two runners up will receive an X-T20.
The entries will be judged by a panel of judges, all working picture editors, who will judge the students and the professionals with the same critical eye.
The new category to the awards opens for entry on November 1st and closes on December 8th.
Entry to the competition for students will be free.“
